Painting a mural during lockdown

Painting a mural during lockdown

I had a tough Sunday during our 4th lockdown of this pandemic. It had been 2 months of lockdown, the weather turned crappy, a couple of planned catch ups didn’t go ahead and I was really lacking in much needed adult conversation.

It’s been a really tough year and I’m feeling it everywhere, even in the smallest of decisions.
I’ve been wanting to paint a mural on this wall for ages, I’ve played with ideas throughout lockdown but nothing was exciting me, I kept putting it off, kept overthinking it. Then one night I just got all my half used test pots, mixed some colours and just started painting. I have worked on my entrance way on and off, finishing the mural and re-painting my front door and steps. It has made me feel better, I am really happy how this has turned out.

Art is so therapeutic. The act of creating, and also just having beautiful art in your home makes such a difference to your mind and how you live. And it is pretty easy to do with a little bit of paint and patience.

I decided my front door and steps also needed a facelift. I painted my front door in Resene Cornflower and the steps in Resene Cello Pavement Paint.
