S1 E1: Painting, grief & finding beauty amongst the chaos of a pandemic with Kate Hursthouse | Abstract Artist

SEASON 1 OF THE CREATIVE MOTHER PODCAST IS HERE!

Today host Kate Hursthouse talks through her journey of taking a long and bumpy road to come full circle and finally embrace the fact she is an artist. She talks about the highs and lows she has experienced since becoming a mother, the impact the pandemic and a separation have had on her and her business.

Kate is an artist, creative business owner and single mother to one awesome kid. She has run her own creative business since 2014 and has been involved in a whole range of projects over the years - from commercial illustrations and design projects to contemporary art, children’s book illustrations and hand-painted murals.

Becoming a mother in 2018 really made Kate question who she was as a person, as a designer, as an artist and she found becoming a mother had a huge impact on her ability to be creative.

She started this podcast to try and answer the question: how do we continue to be creative and produce creative work, while raising children?

Connecting with other creative mothers has been a huge source of comfort for Kate over the last few years. Her goal is to create a little corner of the internet where creative mothers share their stories and gain a feeling of community, understanding, and inspiration.
